Port Macquarie Surf School regularly holds High Performance lessons targeted to advanced surfers who want to compete in surfing events.
Port Macquarie’s setting on the Mid North Coast of NSW is an ideal training area as it boasts a multitude of different breaks and wave types that allow us to tailor to the specific needs of any surfer.
These are elite lessons but they’re not just for locals. We have surfers from all over Australia travelling to Port Macquarie to attend sessions with us.
It’s not all about “in the water” skills either. Our High Performance lessons involve fitness programs and training schedules to prepare your body for the rigors of competition surfing. We also include visual analysis through DVD presentation as a valuable tool for technique correction. Our experienced coaches will even provide mental preparation techniques and heat strategies to really get you in the best competition form possible. High Performance surfers will be set unique programs that will cater to their individual abilities, talents and goals.
All three Port Macquarie Surf School partners have competed successfully in surfing events over many years. “The Grey Ghost”, Peter Hudson, has a long list of shortboard and longboard State and National Titles in a competition career that spans over 30 years. Both Grant and Wayne “Huddo” have travelled around the world for a number of years competing on the WQS. As a result, they all have the knowledge and understanding of what’s required to assist the new generation of professional surfers achieve their goals at the highest level.
Grant Hudson is currently Surfing NSW‘s High Performance Coach and co-ordinates training camps for elite surfers across the State. Grant was the 2008 and 2009 Australian Coach for the Australian Under 16 Boy’s Team at the World Junior Surfing Titles held in France in June 08 and Ecuador in April 2009.
