Welcome to Port Macquarie Surf School
Meet the team from Port Macquarie Surf School.
Port Macquarie Surf School is locally owned and operated by the “Huddos”; the well-known father and sons team of Peter, Wayne and Grant Hudson. All born and bred in Port Macquarie, the Huddos are accomplished surfers in their own right with over 90 years of surfing and just on 50 years of coaching experience between them. They know the local beaches like nobody else are more than ready to pass on their experience and knowledge to all surfers, from beginner through to the high performance surfer.
Port Macquarie boasts some of the most the picturesque beaches on the East Coast. And, with a little help from Port Macquarie Surf School, it’s the perfect environment to quickly master all the skills you need to confidently take on the waves of your own local break. The thrill of riding a wave is an experience you’ll never forget and remember, you don’t have to be young to enjoy this great Aussie experience. We cater for all ages and abilities.
Peter, Wayne and Grant are all Level 2 accredited coaches.
Peter Hudson
The most senior member of the “Huddo“ family is Peter AKA: “the Grey Ghost”.
Peter started surfing at the age of 9 and has never stopped. That’s more than half a century of riding waves so you could say it is in his blood. Peter began surf coaching in 1981 and currently holds a Level 2 accreditation. He’s also a founding member of the Port Macquarie / Hastings Disabled Surfing Association.
Since his first surfing competition way back in the 70’s, Peter has travelled extensively around Australia to win numerous “short” and “long board” titles. From 1989 with his first NSW Open Longboard win, right through to 2008 when he was crowned Over 55’s NSW Longboard champion, Peter has dominated the NSW competition scene with titles and championships too numerous to mention.
Peter is also a five time Australian Champion.
